"Didn’t really give me that film feel"
I tried this on a handful of my scans, and the colors just didn’t feel like real film to me. The grain and tones came off a bit more digital than I was expecting. I was hoping it would look more like actual film, or at least closer to… I don’t know, something with a softer, more natural feel. Maybe it works better for other people, but for my workflow it just didn’t quite hit the film look I wanted...

"Works well, but setup options are kinda limited!!!"
Negative Lab Pro is nice and does a good job!!! But the platform support feels a little too limited for me. I had to run it through Lightroom on my main computer, which was fine, but I couldn’t really use it the way I wanted on my other setups!!!

"It works okay overall, but I’ve had..."
It works okay overall, but I’ve had it crash often while making edits on my Mac. If you’re planning to use it for anything important, I’d definitely suggest saving your work frequently or keeping a backup just in case.

"Kind of helpful, but way too confusing"
I bought Negative Lab Pro because I thought it was going to make scanning film feel a lot simpler, and in some ways it does seem powerful. But at the same time, I felt more confused after opening it than I did before.
There are so many sliders, settings, and little choices that I kept second-guessing everything. I’d get one scan looking decent, then the next one looked totally off, so I ended up watching videos just to figure out what I was doing. I can see why people love it, but I also don’t really understand how anyone calls it easy.

For me, the learning curve was just too much. Maybe if you already know your way around film scanning it’s amazing, and I’m not saying it’s bad software, but I wanted something more straightforward, not another whole thing to study

"I found the layout mostly easy..."
I found the layout mostly easy to follow, but a few parts felt a little busy and took me a minute to figure out.

"Worth it if you scan film regularly"
I’ve been using Negative Lab Pro for a bit now, it feels like a fair deal for what it does. It’s not exactly cheap, but after running a few rolls through it, I could see why the price makes sense. It saved me a lot of time compared to endlessly tweaking scans in Lightroom.

For me, the value is definitely there. I really like that it’s a one-time payment instead of yet another monthly subscription. A friend who scans a lot of film actually recommended it to me, and now I get why. If you’re scanning film often, it feels worth having

"Took a minute, but it worked"
I bought the license and the setup was straightforward overall. It just didn’t activate instantly, so I ended up trying again and checking my email before it finally went through. Once that was sorted, the software opened normally and everything seemed fine. Not a bad experience, just one of those small moments where you’re left wondering if you missed a step. 4 stars.

"I do like using Negative Lab Pro..."
I do like using Negative Lab Pro overall, but the updates come way too slowly. It feels like every time you think a fix or improvement is coming soon, the goalposts move again and you’re left waiting another few months with not much actually changing. For what it costs, I expected things to be a bit more active and consistent.

"The color conversion was spot on for..."
The color conversion was spot on for the most part. A few shadows didn’t come through quite right, but the main colors matched really well. I’m guessing the tool might struggle a bit with darker gradients or softer shadow details, though I can’t say for sure.

"Good results, but a few avoidable slowdowns"
Negative Lab Pro generally does a solid job, and I’m usually happy with the final results. That said, it can slow me down more than I expected. A few parts of the process feel clunky, and I often end up making extra tweaks that seem avoidable. It’s definitely not bad, but for batch work, I wish it felt a bit smoother and faster

"I wanted to like it, but yeah... I got lost"
I really did want to like Negative Lab Pro, but i just couldn’t get into a good flow with it. Like, I’d adjust one setting, then another, then go back again because somehow it still didn’t look right. It kind of felt like I was just spinning in circles trying to get a decent result. Maybe if you already know exactly what you’re doing it clicks better, and I’m sure it works great for some people, but for me it was more frustrating than helpful. In the end, I just didn’t feel like it was worth the time I was putting into it.

"RAW files were a headache for me"
I really wanted this to work for my photo workflow, but the RAW file handling just felt off. In my experience, the files didn’t open or process the way I expected, and it made editing more frustrating than it should’ve been. Maybe it works better for other formats, but for RAW files, it wasn’t a good fit for me

"Ugh, the white balance is a pain"
I messed with the white balance for a minute and immediately got annoyed. It feels clunky, and I kept thinking, why is this taking so much time?

"Finally felt in control of my film scans"
The first time I sat down with Negative Lab Pro, I had a handful of film scans that were close, but not quite there. Usually I’d get frustrated trying to fix the colors or tones without making the whole image feel worse, but this gave me enough control to actually shape the scan the way I pictured it. The color controls and tone options made it easy to adjust things without feeling like I had to start from scratch every time.
I did have a few moments where I went down the rabbit hole and ended up tweaking way more than I planned, and some tools took a little trial and error before they clicked. But once I got more comfortable with it, I really appreciated the flexibility. It feels like I finally have room to make my scans look the way I want instead of just settling for whatever comes out first.

"Camera scanning support didn’t work out for me"
I reached out for help with the camera scanning feature because I couldn’t get my setup working, but the replies I got felt vague. Maybe it works fine for other people, but in my case, I was still stuck after contacting support. it was frustrating.

"I’ve been using the batch processing for..."
I’ve been using the batch processing for scans it’s saved me a ton of time. I can just run a bunch at once and move on to something else, which is great. There are still a few little things I end up fixing manually afterward, nothing huge, but yeah, it’s not totally hands-off yet. Still, overall it works well.

"Skin tones are way easier to get right now"
I’ve been using Negative Lab Pro for my color film scans, and the skin tones look a lot better than what I used to get. With my old setup, I was constantly messing around trying to fix faces that came out too red or weirdly green, which got frustrating. Now it usually gets me close right away. I still do a few small tweaks here and there, especially if the lighting is mixed, so it’s not totally perfect. But compared to what I was dealing with before, it saves me a ton of time and the results look a lot more natural...

"Wish I’d found these tutorials sooner"
I’m still new to scanning film, and I wish I’d checked out the tutorials on negativelabpro.com earlier. They made the whole process feel way less confusing. Everything was easy to follow, and I was finally able to fix my colors without sitting there guessing for hours.

"I really wanted to like this, but I..."
I really wanted to like this, but I just couldn’t get steady results. I’m using the same film stock, same camera, and the same lab, but the scans still come back with colors and contrast all over the place between rolls. It feels like a preventable issue, which makes it even more frustrating. I end up spending more time correcting everything than actually editing or enjoying the photos. Maybe other people have better luck, but for me the consistency isn’t there...

"I really wanted to like Negative Lab..."
I really wanted to like Negative Lab Pro, but the way it handled shadows and highlights was frustrating. The darker areas would get crushed so easily, and then the highlights would start looking strange or clip before I could get the photo anywhere close to balanced.
I ended up spending more time wrestling with sliders than actually editing my scans. Maybe it works better for other people or certain setups, but for me it made basic adjustments feel like a chore. It also gave me that uneasy feeling that the company is more focused on selling the tool than making sure it genuinely works well for everyone, so I don’t think it was worth the money
